CHIVENOR SPRINT - RMB CHIVENOR - 19th September 2010

Entries received to date are HERE (cars only)

Plans for this year's CHIVENOR SPRINT are well under way. We are extremely grateful to Diesel Services - Fred Sanders Ltd who have agreed to sponsor our 2010 event and to the Commanding Officer and his team at RMB Chivenor for allowing us to run the event.

All competitors from 2009 and those who are registered contenders in the current 2010 ASWMC Sprint Championship will automatically receive a notification that regulations can be downloaded from this site or a hard copy by post.

If you are not in either of these groups you may need to contact North Devon Motor Club to have your name added to the mailing list. Alternatively you can download your copy of the Regulations and Entry Form NOW using the links on this page.

We are delighted that once again the event is a qualifying round in the Bridge Tyres & Wheels ASWMC Sprint Championship and also the Torbay Motor Club Speed Championship. This year, for the first time, we will have the pleasure of witnessing motorcycles and outfits from the National Hillclimb Association taking to the circuit. These guys normally negotiate steep and twisty hills, it will be interesting to see them perform on the flat !

REVISED CIRCUIT FOR 2010 - We are well aware that last year's circuit did not appeal to all drivers. We have listened to your comments and suggestions and thought long and hard about how the circuit could be improved to give all drivers the thrilling high speed experience they would expect from an airfield circuit. In short we have kept what are widely agreed to be the best bits and taken out some of the long sweeping turns and narrow sections. Robert Cocker and the team have worked hard to provide the best possible layout within the safety constraints this venue demands.

MARSHAL INFORMATION

Any event of this size simply cannot function safely and efficiently without volunteeer marshals. If you are willing to give a day of your time in support of local motorsport then North Devon Motor Club would love to hear from you. Track marshals tend to have had some experience and training (although if you volunteer early enough we can provide the help you need in time for this year's event). Other areas such as the competitor paddock, specatator areas, parking and gate duties are much less demanding and therefore require no previous experience.

Volunteers benefit from free admission to the event, snack lunch provided and the appreciation of all competitors and the organising team.

Please register your interest, together with any motorsport experience to our Event Chief Marshal: Robert Cocker or Club Chief Marshal: Claire Mead

SPECTATOR INFORMATION

Chivenor Sprint welcomes specators of all ages. Admission charge is still only £5 per adult, accompanied children under 14 are admitted FREE. We do our best to provide for the less-able motorsport enthusiast too. Disabled parking and level access toilets are sited close to the main spectator area.

As you approach RMB Chivenor please follow the direction signs and drive with due consideration to local residents who may not be as interested in motorsport as you are.

At the Admission Point you will be given a Guide Leaflet detailing where to park, the key features of the sprint course, the best viewing spots and the location of refreshments, ice-creams, toilets and first aid support. A list of drivers and riders will also enable you to identify the cars more easily.

The Ex Radio 1 Roadshow Stage will be central to our "Sprint Village" this year. It is hoped local DJ Ian Brass (Brasso) will provide entertainment for all the family.

Meanwhile, Pat Jennings will provide trackside commentary and infomed analysis of the driver's performances.

And please don't rush off early, the Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 5.00pm and you are more than welcome to attend.

more information will be added as we get it....
